SMART RULES OF SHOPPING AT SHANGHAI SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY MUSEUM MARKET

As I have mentioned before, and I will reiterate it for all those girls coming to China – you might think you are of the most typical, average size in Europe, with the height 1,69 cm and shoe size 39 BUT be prepared to find yourself pretty much frustrated in China…When you enter even some of the chain stores you had back in Europe for example, like Bershka or Stradivarius, just because you see size 39, it is by no means the counterpart of 39 size you were used to outside planet China…It will be usually AT LEAST one size smaller…Hard to fathom, but true! Fortunately, we have our invaluable Shanghai Science and Technology Clothing Market here ( LINE 2 – one stop after Century Avenue) and this is where you will be spoilt for choice. Just always remember to follow some simple, but smart rules and consistently stick to them when setting off on a shopping spree there: A pair of winter boots should not cost you more than 200 – 240 RMB – no matter how convincingly the vendor will moan and complain ‘ my friend, my friend – that’s too little, give me more!’ – have NO mercy!:) For ballerina shoes and sneakers – between 60 and 120 RMB. No more than 120 for a bag, and between 35 – 50 for gloves. Another amazing part of Science and technology market are tailors and the possibility of having your shirt, skirt, dress coat – you name it – tailor made for a truly decent price! If you are patient at bargaining, and can speak Chinese or order a few, you can get one , great quality shirt for 100RMB.But I will come back to that in another post. Below a few pictures of winter boots and gloves available at Shanghai Science and Technology Market Station
