Although I am an avid follower of natural skin care trend and I believe that how your skin looks depends mostly on your diet, I still think that every now and then a visit to a beauty salon will enhance the results of the skin care. Plus we girls definitely deserve some considerable amount of pampering. All my girlfriends are unanimous on this point and luckily they get to find various places in town that serve the above mentioned purpose.
When I heard that my friend Alesia gets her monthly facials at one salon, which provides both cheap and good service, I wouldn’t stop bothering her until she took me there. And she was surprised I hadn’t heard of it, because it apparently has chains all over Shanghai.
The salon’s name is ‘Wen Feng – meifa meirong’ in pinyin and 文峰美发美容 in Chinese.
Wen Feng is allegedly the name of the owner whose picture graces the entrance and meifa meirong’ means ‘hairdressing and beauty treatment’.
The place is 100% Chinese and be prepared that the staff will not speak English there. However the quality of service is high and you can get a complete beauty treatment, literally from head to toe. They have their own skincare products as well.
When I went there with Alesia, I got ‘Whole set of skin care’ for 300 RMB and ‘Eye care’ for extra 100RMB.The experience was truly pampering one. We got to lie on beds, covered with warm blankets. As relaxing Chinese music was wafting in the room, two ladies were cleansing our faces and necks, massaging and then applying masks and the brand’s very own moisturizing oils. It was really well spent 400 RMB as the skin felt regenerated and fresh. Although I don’t really have any skin problems due to my healthy lifestyle, I really felt it gave me this extra boost to glowing complexion.
There was just one funny moment, when after the cleansing with machine that looks like a vacuum cleaner the beautician was trying to show me what exactly she got from deeper layers of my skin .Probably in a zealous effort to convince me to have such sessions more often…Well, probably peculiar company’s policy.
Still, I really recommend this place. The one I visited is in Jiangsu road, 5 minute walk from Jiangsu road subway station. But if you try to be more vigilant, you will spot them in many districts in our city of lights.
